For example, a diameter of 13 mm can be used for 1-10 ml samples. Similarly, 25 mm PVDF syringe filters can be used for sample volumes of 10-100 ml. Their retention is less than 100 ml.

Syringe Filters with hydrophobic PTFE membranes can be used for filtration of strong solvents, acids and alkalis. Not suitable for filtration of aqueous liquids. Filters with hydrophilic PTFE can be used for filtration of strong solvents, acids and alkalis. However, these syringe filters can also be used for the filtration of aqueous liquids, which makes this type very versatile.

Polyethersulfone filter has the characteristics of high flow rate, low extraction loss, and higher mechanical resistance than cellulose membrane.
